heres what it does
it's for measuring oil in water emulsions and transparent solutions, like machine shop coolant. you gotta keep the right mix in coolant systems or your cutting tools won't work right. it's also for stopping corrosion on the machine and workpiece, and to prevent health hazards from bad concentrations of water soluble oils. and to save money on water base cutting fluids and grinding fluids.
specs are: range ND: 1.333 -1.356 Bx: 0 - 15%. eyepiece is x11, telescopic lens is x4. accuracy is +/-0.0003 +/- 0.2%. lattic value is 0.0005 0.2%. comes in a nice metal case with a calibration thingy and a manual.
i paid 88 quid for it, it's lab grade i think. is it any good tho?
Is my refractometer sufficient
Re: Is my refractometer sufficient
It seems like it's a decent tool, giving you the salt level and all that. I'd say it's probably worth the 88 pounds you paid for it, especially since it's lab grade, right?

Re: Is my refractometer sufficient
but isn't that a pretty narrow range, i mean it starts at 1.333, does that even matter
Re: Is my refractometer sufficient
You're gonna need a scale that covers the range of specific gravity you're working with. For our reef tanks, we're looking at 1.025-1.026, so ideally you want a refractometer with that range around the middle mark. I'll check mine later and post the range for you.
It's a decent piece of kit, just not the right fit for you. Any chance of returning it?

I've got the D-D refractometer, scale on mine's 1.000 - 1.070 d20/20 0/00 Salinity. Yours is really precise, narrow range and all, just not the right fit for what you're doing.
