Discus.com feedback
Has anyone ordered from Discus.com recently? I got a pair of Blue Diamonds last week, but they're super skittish and not eating. Tank's a 55g, 84F, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Using Seachem Prime and feeding frozen bloodworms.

Discus.com has a decent rep, but skittishness could be from shipping stress or tankmates. What's your setup like? Any aggressive fish in there? Also, try soaking the bloodworms in garlic guard, it's a game changer for picky eaters. How often are you doing water changes?

Thanks for the tips. Tankmates are just a school of Cardinals and some Corys. Water changes are 30% twice a week. I'll grab some garlic guard tomorrow.kayson wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 10:35 am Discus.com has a decent rep, but skittishness could be from shipping stress or tankmates. What's your setup like? Mine were like that too at first. Took about a week to settle in. Maybe just give them time? I've heard Discus.com fish are usually healthy.

Yeah, Discus.com's stock is usually solid, but shipping's a rough ride for those guys. Try dimming the lights for a few days, might help 'em chill. Also, beef heart mix is worth a shot if they're ignoring bloodworms.

Dimming lights is a good call. Also, check your TDS. Discus can be fussy if it's too high. What's your tap water like? Mine's super hard, so I cut it with RO.

Tap's around 200 TDS. I've been using Prime straight, no RO. Maybe that's the issue. Gonna test it tomorrow and see.

200's on the high side for Discus. Try mixing in 25% RO and see if they perk up. Also, keep an eye on their poop. White stringy stuff could mean parasites, but if they're just stressed, it'll pass.

Mine had white poop once. Turned out to be hexamita. Had to treat with Metroplex. Hope yours is just stress though.

Re: Discus.com feedback
Discus.com does quarantine their fish, but parasites can still pop up. If the garlic and RO don't help in a few days, might be worth treating just in case. Better safe than sorry with these pricy guys.
