raising demasoni fry
I've managed to "harvest" 48 fish babies from 2 of my demasoni females - they were literally bursting. The little ones are now in 2 breeding boxes, and I'm thrilled to say the mothers were only out of their tank for a brief 10 minutes while I scooped out the fry. First time I've attempted this, and it all went remarkably smoothly, so I'm feeling pretty chuffed.

I'm not sure removing them from the mothers is the best idea, seems like they should be left to learn from them. Leaving them with the mothers teaches them parental care, which can impact how they care for their own young in the future.

Re: raising demasoni fry
I'm all too familiar with the dilemma, but I'm really keen on maximizing the number of survivors from this initial batch. I'm not too keen on removing the mothers from their tank, so I'm hoping their parental instincts will kick in if and when they have their own fry in the future.
The new breeding tank was set up in a rush, so I didn't manage to get any sand in there, but I suppose it's alright while they're in the breeding boxes for now.
