anyone tried floating moss?

Post by finleydive »

I've been thinking about adding floating moss to my 20 gallon tank. Anyone got experience with it? Wondering if it's gonna mess with my water flow or block too much light for the plants below.

I've used floating moss in my 15 gallon for about six months. It's pretty chill, doesn't block too much light if you keep it trimmed. My Anubias and Java Fern are doing fine under it.

What kind of moss are you thinking of using? I've had success with Christmas Moss floating, but it does require regular maintenance to prevent overgrowth.

I agree. I've got a 10 gallon with floating moss and my plants are thriving. Just gotta keep an eye on it.

Yep, floating moss is a vibe. I use it in my shrimp tank and they love it. Just make sure your filter flow isn't too strong or it'll get everywhere.

I tried floating moss once but it got all tangled in my filter. Maybe my flow was too high. Gonna try again with a sponge pre-filter.

Floating moss can be a bit sketchy if you don't maintain it. I've had it take over a tank before. Regular trimming is key.

That's a good idea. A sponge pre-filter should help keep it under control.

I've found that floating moss works best in tanks with lower flow. My Betta tank has a gentle filter and the moss stays put.
