A new direction

Post by duskore »

I've got a 4x2x2 ft aquarium full of Malawi cichlids and I'm looking for a centrepiece fish that's a bit out of the ordinary. I love my Malawis but I'm itching for something new to mix it up with them. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? My Ph is 8.0, so I'm open to hearing what you think would work well.

Honestly, I'd say it's best to stick with the classic rule of thumb for Malawis - they just seem to do better with their own kind. I've found they tend to keep their distance from plecos, but I'm guessing that's not what you're after as a centrepiece fish.

There's always someone who thinks they can mix and match, like those puffer and cichlid combos, but I'm with keyholder on this one - Malawis with Malawis is the way to go. That being said, if I had to pick just one fish to add, I'd probably go with a striped Raphael catfish.
