Re: Kribensis fish size
I'm concerned about the advice you received. Kribs are notorious for their aggressive behavior, and adding multiple males to your tank may not end well for the extra male. While it's possible the females will pair off with the males, the leftover male will likely face intense bullying or even death. Once the pairs establish their territories, they may calm down, but don't be surprised if you encounter some casualties along the way. The kribs and rainbow shark will likely clash, and with the three goldfish, your tank is starting to feel overcrowded.

I think there's been a misunderstanding about Kribensis behavior. In my experience, they're generally only territorial when breeding, and a 75-gallon tank is more than spacious enough for two pairs to set up their own domains.thenoob wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 11:23 am I'm concerned about the advice you received. As I mentioned earlier, once the pairs have formed, the remaining male will likely be bullied and eventually killed unless rehomed. It's crucial to keep an eye on the situation and be prepared to rehome the odd one out.
Regarding the Rainbow Shark, I believe it's relatively peaceful, especially in a large aquarium like this one. And, as I previously suggested, rehoming the goldfish would be the best decision for the well-being of all the fish.

I've had a different experience with Kribs, that's all I'm saying.

Any updates on the Kribs? I'd love to see more pics, they're one of my favorites, and I'm curious how the new additions are working out.bumpers wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 12:09 am I've got 2 female Kribs in my 75 Gallon tank, and judging by their coloration, I'm guessing they're a bit older - about 2.5-3 inches. As a cichlid newbie, I've been doing my research and chatting with the folks at my LFS, and it seems like Kribs can make good community fish. However, I'm experiencing some bullying issues, and I'm wondering if introducing 2 males might help - assuming they pair off, of course. The problem is, my local LFS only has smaller Kribs right now, about 1-1.5 inches with less coloration.
Would it be a problem introducing these smaller males to my 2 older females? I'm also open to other suggestions on how to tackle the aggression - it seems like the aggressor is mainly targeting the other female Krib. I've provided plenty of hiding spots, but I'm not sure what else to do to help.
