What's Your Favorite Rooted Plant?

Post by _frosty »

I've been trying to find the best rooted plant for my 20-gallon tank. Any suggestions? I've got sand substrate and moderate lighting.

Amazon swords are a solid choice. They're easy to grow and look great in a 20-gallon. Just make sure you've got enough nutrients in the substrate.

Dude, crypts are where it's at. They're chill, don't need crazy light, and spread like crazy once they're settled. Just don't freak out if they melt at first.

Yep, crypts are awesome. I've got a bunch in my low-tech tank and they're thriving. Just give 'em time to adjust.

I'm kinda new to this, but I've had luck with dwarf sagittaria. It's like grass but way cooler. Grows fast too.

Has anyone tried Vallisneria? I heard it's good for taller tanks but not sure about a 20-gallon.

Vallisneria's gonna work fine in a 20-gallon, just trim it if it gets too wild. It's low-maintenance and looks slick.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll probably start with crypts and see how they do.

Good call. Just be patient with them. They might take a few weeks to bounce back after planting.

Yeah, crypts are slow starters but worth the wait. Mine took a month to really take off, now they're everywhere. Love it.
