Good plan. Let us know how it goes. If the spots multiply or the fish starts scratching, it's time to treat for ich.

Also, if you're using a sand substrate, make sure it's not too fine. Fine sand can stick to fish more easily. What grain size did you use?

I've had this issue with CaribSea sand. It's super fine and clouds the water for days. Maybe switch to a coarser sand if this keeps happening.

Agreed. Coarser sand is better for flow and less likely to stick to fish. Also, rinse new sand thoroughly before adding it to the tank.
