Best filter for sand tanks

I've been running a sand substrate tank for about six months now, and I'm not sure my current filter is cutting it. It's a 40-gallon with a mix of Corydoras and Tetras. The filter is a basic HOB, but sand keeps getting kicked up and clogging the intake. Anyone have recommendations for a better setup?

Yo, sand tanks can be a pain with HOBs. I switched to a canister filter last year, and it's been a game-changer. Less clogging, more flow control. I'm using a Fluval 307 on my 55-gallon sand tank, and it's chill. Just gotta rinse the media every few weeks.
