adding more fish to your aquarium: is it possible?

Hi all,

I've got a 120 gallon aquarium with a mix of fish - 3 clown loaches, 4 gouramis, 1 red tail shark, 3 siamese algea eaters, 6 rummy nose tetras, and 7 danios. Thinking of adding 3 roseline sharks and a few more rummy nose tetras to complete the school. Would this be okay or is the tank getting too crowded?

Hello navix. The Denison Barb isn't an issue in your case, but I want to say that for fish like yours, regular water changes are crucial. You really need to be on top of it, changing about half the water every week. It's not just about doing a little bit every couple of weeks, that's not enough. Fish need clean water to thrive, and if you don't provide it, their health will suffer.

Thanks for the advice. I've been doing about 30% water changes weekly, but I'm more than happy to increase the frequency if needed.

Hello again. When it comes to water changes, you've got to be careful not to shock your fish. If they're used to 25 percent weekly, suddenly bumping it up to 50 percent can be too much, even for the hardiest species. It's not just about doing a 50 percent change every week, it's about getting them used to it. So, gradually increase the amount you change each week until you reach that 50 percent mark. Then, stick to it.

As for adding more fish, I think you're good to go. Just keep an eye on things and make sure you're not overdoing it.
