finding the best online stores for buying fish

Post by connie »

My birthday's around the corner and, honestly, I'm stuck when my parents ask what I want - being an adult is weird like that. But I've recently gotten into this awesome hobby, so now I'm all about the fish. I've got my heart set on bichir - just need to find a reliable website to buy from. I'd be totally bummed if it arrived dead, lol. Can anyone recommend a good site? Thanks in advance!

I've had good experiences with Dan's fish - he's got a wide variety of fish and takes great care of them. His prices might be a bit higher, but the quality is usually worth it.

You might also want to check out the app Band - it's got a bunch of private fishkeepers and breeders posting their stock for sale. If you join some of the groups, you can see what's available and even buy from some reputable breeders. They've got everything from fish to equipment and meds, so it's definitely worth a look.

Yeah I've checked them out, but it looks like they don't have bichir available, which is kinda what I'm after.

my 2nd favorite seller is Discus Madness, I'm sure there are other good ones out there, but Dan's is the best I've found so far. I don't really have a local fish store that I trust, and the semi-local pet place is lacking in both variety and fish care, so most of my fish are mail order.

I just came across this website - lonestarrareexoticfish.com and they have a pretty cool selection, including bichir. Has anyone heard of them?

Thanks for the info. At least I know I can get a delhezi from them. They just recommended a more expensive one, so might as well try and get something really cool.

I checked out that Lone Star site too, but their selection didn't really impress me, except for plecos, they had some of those.

You might want to check out monsterfishkeepers' classified section, they have some nice bichirs available. No worries if this isn't allowed, mods can delete if needed.

I've had good experiences with Predatory Fins, they've got a pretty solid selection of Bichirs & some bigger sizes to start with. I've bought from them before & they're pretty good. They import fish from all around the world & sell them anywhere in the US, so you can get some unique stuff. If you've got questions or concerns about a fish, just hit them up at 561-430-7944.
