A question about identification assistance
A question about identification assistance
I've got some cichlids I used to keep and I'm trying to figure out what they are - female Venustus or Livingstonii, or maybe even a hybrid. I've still got babies from them that I'm rehoming, so I'd like to know what to tell the new owners, lol. The babies are pretty much Venustus lookalikes, but I'm not sure if my male Venustus bred with a female Venustus or Livingstonii. Looking back, I think the females I had were probably Venustus - they look more like female giraffe cichlids to me now. But I'd love to get some feedback and maybe finally get an answer. I've attached some pics to help.
Re: A question about identification assistance
From what I've observed, Venustus cichlids seem to be the likely parent, given the appearance of the babies. Livingstonii cichlids, on the other hand, tend to develop a bluish hue as they mature, which doesn't seem to be the case with these ones.
