Do fish really love lollipops?

I recall a rather amusing incident involving my daughter and our fish pond many years ago. She had accidentally dropped her lollipop into the water, and I vividly remember watching our mirror carp swimming about with the stick poking out of its mouth. It was never clear whether the fish had swallowed the lollipop or managed to spit it out, but the image has stayed with me.
