Trouble with my new fungia plate

Post by flintroid »

Just got my Blue Zoo delivery and I'm worried I've messed up my new plate coral (fungia). I placed it upside down for two and a half days - I know, I know, it was a stupid mistake. Didn't realize it till yesterday, so I flipped it back over. Now it's still retracted with just a few tiny tentacles showing. Have I ruined this coral for good or is there still hope for it to recover? Anything I can do to help it bounce back?

I'm pretty optimistic about its chances, just make sure to keep it in a shaded area with low water flow for now. Adding some pictures would be really helpful in determining the extent of the damage.

I think it'll be alright, fungias are pretty hardy, just give it some time.

Keep it in, even if it looks like there's nothing left... I've seen some pretty rough recoveries and this one might just surprise you. Check out this thread on Reef Central - it's about plate corals bouncing back from some pretty tough times.
