moving kribensis fry: when is the right time

Post by prophet81 »

Hi all, I'm thinking of moving my kribensis fry soon. They're in my community tank and both parents have been great. They're around 1cm long now and I've got about 20 of them. Should I put any other fish in the grow-out tank or keep them separate? Would really appreciate any advice, still learning the ropes in the fish-keeping world.

You can move them now if you want, but I'd leave them for a bit - my mum's kribs used to spawn again as soon as the previous ones were gone. Just make sure they've got plenty of clean water to grow in, that's the main thing.

When to move them, you ask. I'd say when the adult male starts getting aggressive towards the little males. That's usually your cue.

Don't let the adults breed too often, trust me, you don't want to be overwhelmed with hundreds of fry and no idea where to rehome them.
