Do red tail sharks prefer floating or sinking pellets?

nothing. they're literally just redtail sharks with no color, that's the main difference.

Worth noting that both red tail black shark and albino red tail shark need a 4-foot long tank. Their temperament isn't exactly pleasant - can be quite nasty, actually. Other substrate fish may get pestered, or worse, killed.

Yep, they can turn quite aggressive as they mature, not just with substrate fish. Mine was a perfect gentleman until he reached about 3-4 inches in length. Then, his demeanor completely changed - he started bullying the entire tank, even the top-dwellers, to the point where I had to rehome him. They're indeed one of the most stunning fish in the hobby and definitely worth keeping, but having a rehoming plan in place is a must. Alternatively, just keep it solo.
