I've seen Java Ferns thrive in sand if the rhizome is above it. Just don't bury it too deep. How's your flow? They like gentle currents.

Mine's glued to a piece of driftwood. Looks awesome and grows like crazy. Maybe give that a shot if the sand isn't working out.

Exactly. I use fishing line to tie mine to rocks. It's a game changer. Also, make sure your water temp is stable. Fluctuations can stress plants.

Patience is key. My tank looked rough for the first month. Now it's thriving. Just keep at it and don't overthink it.
