I'd say if it were a Saulosi, it would be way more vibrant, either yellow or blue and stripey depending on the sex. At a guess, I'd say it might be a zebra of some sort, but don't just take my word for it, it's tricky to tell. You know how it is with fish stores, they might order 20 Saulosis and end up with 20 random cichlids instead, so it could be any number of things.

I think she's lovely despite the ID issue. She's really docile for a mbuna, I've only seen her get feisty with one fish. My other mbunas are actually helping to calm my Red Jewel down, it's been a bit of a handful but seems to be settling in now.

They're gorgeous, I'm really jealous - wish I could have some of my own.

No worries, they're great fish. The male's definitely in charge, and it's pretty amusing to see my zebra pulu chill out a bit - he used to be such a handful. @dieses, fair point, sometimes it's just that simple - as long as you're happy with the fish and she's not causing any trouble.

To be honest, I wouldn't be too fussed about her species/purity if she were the only one I had. But if I were breeding them, that's a different story. As it stands, I'm pretty confident all my girls are, well, girls.
