Coral in distress, what's going wrong?

I need some help here, guys. so my octospawn's been growin this weird bubble thingy in the middle for a couple weeks now - check the pics, it's that smooth spot with no tentacles. I think it's losin some of its tentacles and shrinkin down in size... any ideas what's goin on and what I can do about it? thanks

I think its a sign of stress, I've seen it before in other octospawns. They start to lose tentacles and shrink down a bit, then eventually they just disappear. I'm not sure what's causing it but I think we should try to figure it out.

Give it some time and observe. Bubbles can be a sign of reproduction, or possibly a fracture in the underlying skeleton. I've had success cutting out large bubbles from chalice and favias that had skeletal damage, and this was after the coral had grown for a while. I've even managed to get a few mini frags from the broken skeleton pieces. Unless you notice significant decline, it's usually best to take a hands-off approach.
