has anyone tried bug bites' bottom feeder (pleco formula)?

Post by bettaMagenta »

Just came across these the other day... I'm a big fan of Bug Bites, but I usually grind 'em up for my tetras... these ones caught my eye, though - they might be perfect for my plecos that don't just eat algae... has anyone given 'em a shot? thoughts?

I've been using them for a bit now and I gotta say, my fish are doing great on 'em. Hard to gauge food quality objectively, but the results speak for themselves.

@graye, what specifically are you feeding these to? I'm curious to know.

I did notice some minor ingredient changes between the formulas. Like, this is the Bottom Feeder Granules...

This one's the Pleco Formula sticks...

And this is the Standard Bug Bites Tropical...

I've taken a glance at the ingredients, at least for the Cory formula, and fish protein concentrate isn't listed...

I've given them a go, my Pleco was absolutely crazy about them - she'd do just about anything for a bite.
My Cories are also huge fans, they tend to pick these over their usual Cory-specific pellets, which I thought were supposed to be the better option for them.

Variety is key here, I've got 3 loracarid species in the mix. Curiosity can get the better of me sometimes.
