I recently got a gold headed sleep goby, about 3 or 4 days ago, and he's doing great so far. He's swimming around, digging, and sifting sand like crazy. The only issue is, he won't touch the food I put in - just sifts the sand for food. I'm worried this won't be enough, since there's only so much sand in my 29g tank. I've tried feeding him mysis, flake, and pellets, but no luck.
Thanks,
Steph
My sleeper isn't eating
Re: My sleeper isn't eating
I've done some research and found that this is actually a natural way for sleep gobies to feed. I came across an article that might be helpful - it's from centflakepets.com, and it explains their feeding habits.
Gorgeous little fish, aren't they?

They're really charming, lots of character too. My clownfish seems to have a new tankmate, he's taken a liking to them and even "sleeps" next to their host coral at night.
I understand that sifting the sand is their natural way, but I'm concerned he's not getting enough nutrients from it. Is there a specific type of food I can use that'll settle on the sand, something that'll make it easier for him to find?
