Flatworms on hammer corals
Flatworms on hammer corals
Got flatworms on my hammer coral and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of them, been there for a few months now. Only seem to be on the hammer, none on my other corals, which is weird. Doesn't appear to be hurting it or anything, but still would like to get rid of them. My hammer is attached to a large rock in the tank, so I'm not sure if that's making it harder to treat.
Re: Flatworms on hammer corals
I recall using Levamesol pig de-wormer in my reef tank years ago to get rid of flatworms. It's not intended for aquarium use, but I had success with it. You can find info on it in some of the older threads here. The process is pretty straightforward - mix it up, and the flatworms will release their grip within minutes. They'll be floating everywhere, so be prepared to suck them up. I was surprised at how many were hiding in the rocks and other crevices. After doing this, I never saw another flatworm in my tank.

Hoeven's Wrasse is another option, it's a natural predator of flatworms.
