identifying pine cone scales on beta

Post by bronzee »

I just brought home a beta fish from the pet store a couple of days ago. Initially, everything seemed fine, but now I'm noticing what could be pinecone scales under his dorsal fin. They're only on one side, though. He's been super active and always eager for food, so I'm not seeing any sickly behavior. I'm worried those scales might be a sign of something serious, and I don't want to catch it too late. His tank is 10 gallons, and all the water conditions are ideal. What's the best course of action here?

To better understand the situation with your beta fish, could you share your current water parameters? Has your 10-gallon tank completed the cycling process? Are there any other fish in the tank with your beta?

No changes yet, still observing. Water params are: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5 ppm. And yes, my tank is fully cycled, no tank mates.
