Experiences with ocean nutrition food
Hi, I'm looking for some advice on food for my African Cichlids - I've got Aulonocara's and Lethrinops in my tank. I'm considering Ocean Nutrition Veggie Pellets, Omni Pellets, Ocean Nutrition Cichlid Vegi Formula, and Spirulina Flakes. Anyone have experience with these?

Ocean Nutrition is a well-known brand in the fish-keeping community, I've heard mostly good things about them.krakena_9 wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 6:14 pm Hi, I'm looking for some advice on food for my African Cichlids - I've got Aulonocara's and Lethrinops in my tank. Honestly, I've never tried those products myself, but after a quick glance at online reviews, they seem decent. The ones I checked out actually looked pretty positive. I've personally stuck with Hikari pellets for my cichlids, but that's because I've mostly kept South Americans.

I'm quite particular about ingredients when it comes to fish food. I took a look at one of the Ocean Nutrition options and noticed it contains fish meal - not the healthiest choice, if you ask me. I mean, compare that to something like Omega One's veggie disk, which uses whole salmon, herring, and shrimp. The presence of cereal binders is another concern of mine. There's some good reading on this topic over on @bayside's blog, specifically his articles on fish food.
