comparing shops
I'm looking for a comparison between Shirley Aquatics and Maidenhead's store at Earlswood in the West Midlands, near Birmingham, specifically from a marine tropical perspective. Maidenhead is actually opening a new branch at Notcutts garden centre in two weeks, just a stone's throw from Shirley Aquatics. I've heard they'll have six bays dedicated to tropical marine fish, as well as freshwater tropicals. Unfortunately, I've had some recent purchases from Shirley Aquatics that didn't survive for long after I brought them home. If Maidenhead comes recommended, I might make the trip to their Earlswood store.
Re: comparing shops
Hi Tom, I was planning to visit Shirley Aquatics on Saturday, but after reading your post, I'm having second thoughts. How was your experience with them, was it just a one-off or do you think they're generally not up to par? I was also considering Coventry Aquatics, have you tried them before?
Re: comparing shops
I've had good experiences with Shirley AQ's online service, dry goods only though. Coventry Aquatics, on the other hand, was a different story - we visited once, the quality was top-notch. The owner took the time to chat, really helpful even with things we weren't buying._jester9 wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 2:36 am Hi Tom, I was planning to visit Shirley Aquatics on Saturday, but after reading your post, I'm having second thoughts. Re: comparing shops
Thanks for the info Seffie, I think I'll give Coventry Aquatics a go instead then.
Re: comparing shops
Is that the one in the warehouse?
Re: comparing shops
I think you've got the wrong shop mate.
