Best frozen foods for Betta fish

Post by threeSixZero »

What's the best frozen food for bettas? I've been using bloodworms but wanna switch it up. My guy's in a 5 gallon with a sponge filter, temp at 78F. He's active but seems bored with the same food.

Yo, bloodworms are chill but gotta mix it up. Try brine shrimp or daphnia, my betta goes nuts for 'em. Just thaw it right, don't wanna mess with their digestion. Also, keep an eye on how much you're feeding, they're tiny stomachs.

Agreed on the variety. I rotate between brine shrimp, daphnia, and mysis shrimp. My betta's in a 10 gallon with sand substrate, and the varied diet keeps his colors vibrant. Just make sure the food's high quality, some brands are sketchy.

I've had good luck with frozen mysis shrimp. My betta's in a planted 7.5 gallon, and he's way more active since I switched from just pellets. Just don't overfeed, it's easy to do with frozen stuff. I do a small pinch every other day.

Brine shrimp all the way, man. My betta's in a 6 gallon with a hang-on-back filter, and he's obsessed. Just gotta rinse it first, some brands got extra salt or preservatives. Also, try feeding at the same time every day, they like routine.

Thanks for the suggestions, gonna try brine shrimp and daphnia. How do you guys thaw the food? Just room temp water or something else?

I use a small cup of tank water to thaw it. Never use hot water, it can cook the food and lose nutrients. Just let it sit for a few minutes, then feed with tweezers or a pipette.

Yep, tank water's the move. I also squeeze out excess water before feeding, don't wanna dilute the tank. My betta's in a 5.5 gallon with driftwood, and he's way happier since I switched to frozen. Just don't forget to rinse if it's got preservatives.

Same here with the tank water. I also mix in some vitamin supplements sometimes, especially if they're looking a bit dull. My betta's in a community tank with neon tetras, and the varied diet keeps everyone healthy.

Rinsing is key, some brands are salty as heck. My betta's in a 6 gallon with a sponge filter, and he's way more active since I started rinsing. Also, try feeding at different spots in the tank, keeps 'em engaged.
