care and feeding of the green chromis
Can I get some when I upgrade? I love having them in big groups, but what's a good number to get?
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
A 4x2x2 tank can be a good size for keeping them in big groups. They do need a lot of food, otherwise the stronger ones might pick on the weaker ones.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
so would 4 be alright or should i go for more?
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
4-6 is a decent number, but personally, I'm not a fan, there are much better options in my opinion. Bi-colour Chromis look fantastic in a group, or you could consider Wreck Fish. If I had to pick, I'd go with Diamond Head Anthias or Scribbled Anthias, or even Bartlets Anthias, they're my top choices.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
I'd agree, unless you're talking about a massive tank, I mean we're talking 20+ and still loads of room for other fish, then it's a different story. There are just so many nicer, more interesting fish out there.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
I'm quite fond of them, they're pretty affordable too. Do you add them all in one go, or is it better to do it in batches? I think they're interesting, don't know what fluxx is, thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll look into those fish you mentioned.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
I've got 6 green chromises in my tank and they're a real treat. They've formed a hierarchy, with one little guy at the bottom and the others gradually bigger. At first, they did bully each other a bit, but they've sorted themselves out now. In my opinion, green chromises are stunning once they've established their pecking order. They've got beautiful color and nice fin shape, and when they swim, their scales catch the light and shimmer with a lovely blue-ish green color. They love to eat little and often, so I give them a variety of foods in small feedings.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
Thanks creebo, got any pics of your tank with the green chromis?
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
I had some a while back, and I found the blue aqua rays really made their colours stand out. Adding a strip light, like Harry, makes them look even better, gives 'em a bit of pop.
Re: care and feeding of the green chromis
thanks ben, but i'm actually planning on using LEDs anyway
