building my new aquariums4life aquarium

Post by lentoa »

Just got my new aquarium delivered by Ian and his dad from aquariums4life, they were absolute stars, carried the tank in for me so I didn't have to lift a finger, nice change that.

Tank looks even better in person, pics really don't do it justice but I've taken a few snaps to share.

Currently looking into LED lighting options and for the rest of my equipment, I'm going with Pond Solutions all the way. Here's my list so far:

2x aps 2000ef filters
2x aps EF-2 External boosters
1x aps 55w UV Steriliser
2x aps 12,000l/h Wave makers
2x aps 300w Heaters

For substrate, I've opted for 50kg of snow white dolomite sand gravel, specifically designed for Malawi cichlid and Tanganyika aquariums. Also picked up 3x Egg crate for decoration.

Tank pics will be up soon

Lovely setup you've got there lentoa, I'm excited to see how it all comes together. I'm curious about the egg crate, what's the plan for using those?

Your tank is looking fantastic, lentoa. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it progresses. I was wondering, what's the plan with the egg crate - are you using it to distribute the weight of the stones or rocks across the base of the tank, and maybe to protect the glass from any sharp edges?

Makes sense now, thanks for explaining. I'll take a look at your old tank build, that one looks nice too

Looks great lentoa. Fantastic quality and finish on the tank. I agree with shinobi_ku on the eggcrate too, I've used it myself in the past and it works a treat.

Cheers guys, I'm also thinking of getting a Pangea Rocky IV background, problem is they're discontinued and the only UK seller has just 3 left - and they're the sandstone colour, not the grey I was after. What do you guys reckon?

Just got my 2x aps 2000ef's, what a bargain at £69.99 each. Also picked up the aps 55w UV Steriliser, was £94.99 but got it for £69.99. This thing is huge, over 2ft long and rated for an 800litre tank. Arrived yesterday, so that's a big tick off the list.

Got a discount code for APS too, 10% off my next order, so that's a nice little bonus.

Your tank's looking great, love the height on your storage, mine's a squeeze for my filter lol

Looks really nice, I'm impressed. I like how tall your storage is, mine barely fits a FX5 filter in it. Lots of room under there, it's 28" inch internal height in the stand and I can see you'll need most of the space for your external filters, not to mention your 2ft UV. I'm also considering a Purigen reactor for my aquarium filtration to control ammonia and nitrates, thinking of running it inline with my external filter. Additionally, I'm looking into a chlorine and nitrite removing filter to remove these straight from my tap water, saving me the hassle of using chemicals to remove them.
