A disaster occurred

Post by rusticfox9 »

my fish are thriving, waters are spot on, feeding's going great..............but woke up this morning and my little male clown's vanished, totally gutted as those two clowns were my first marine fish, looks like my reef lobster and crabs have had a feast! this hobby's got a way of kicking you when you think everything's going smoothly.

Sorry to hear that, mate. No idea if the lobster/crabs got him or he just kicked the bucket, but I'm leaning towards the former given the state of the tank. I get why you'd be nervous, setting up a sw tank can be daunting, but you just gotta roll with the punches and learn from the setbacks – that's all I've been doing, anyway.

haven't got a clue what happened to the little fella, probably went belly up in the night and the scavengers have had a good feed, my female is swimming around looking all lost for him.

its gutting when it happens, had a crackin' healthy red fairy wrasse just vanish, one day its eatin' great and lookin' fab, next its gone, no body, nothin'. strange feelin' every mornin' turnin' on the lights, doin' a head count... whos gone missin', whos still kickin', whos become a midnight snack, it's a right puzzle.

I've had my fair share of tank drama too. Had a lured matele star, and let me tell you, it was a killing machine. Took out a royal gamma, two brizil kento4 seahorses, two lawnmower blennies, and even a green mandarin. I know it sounds crazy, but I was too entertained watching it eat to take it out. Then I got a snowflake eel, and it was like a repeat performance - three purple anthias and another lawnmower blenny gone. My naso tang met its demise after running into my sea urchin - found holes all over its body, and I'm pretty sure that's what killed it. And just the other day, I introduced an anemone, and my eel ended up tangled in it, dead. Not even sure if anemones can kill eels, but I guess I found out the hard way.

Yeah, that's the reality of this hobby, mate - it can kick you in the teeth just when you think you're cruising.
