I was going through the "super blue emperor" thread and noticed something interesting about the palmeri - apparently, the eye color indicates the sex of the fish. The similarity in eye color between the black emperor and the palmeri makes me think it's possible the black emperor is a line-bred color of the palmeri. I find this trait pretty fascinating.
Are there other fish species where you can determine the sex based on their eye color?
