Adding new fish to tank

Post by islandbass »

I'm thinking about adding some new fish to my 30 gallon tank. It's been running for about 6 months with a couple of Mollies and a Corydoras. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Any suggestions for compatible fish?

Yo, if your tank's chill with those params, you could totally add some Neon Tetras or Harlequin Rasboras. They're small, peaceful, and won't mess with your current crew. Just make sure you acclimate 'em slow, yeah?

Neon Tetras are a great choice. They're hardy and do well in groups of 6 or more. Just keep an eye on your filtration since they prefer clean water. What kind of filter are you running?

I've got a similar setup with a sponge filter and a HOB. Works fine for my Tetras. How often do you do water changes?

I second that. Rasboras are underrated, man. They've got this cool orange vibe that pops against green plants.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll look into the Rasboras and Tetras. My filter's a basic HOB, and I do weekly 25% water changes.

Solid plan, dude. Just don't go adding too many at once. Maybe start with 4-5 and see how your tank handles it. Overstocking's a quick way to stress everyone out.

Agreed. Also, if you're adding new fish, consider quarantining them first. It's a hassle, but better than dealing with a sick tank later.

Quarantine's a good call. I lost half my tank once because I skipped that step. Never again.

Yep, learned that the hard way too. Now I keep a spare 10 gallon just for quarantine. Worth every penny.
