Betta fish and tank decoration safety
I'm setting up a new tank for my betta and wanna make sure the decorations are safe. What should I avoid? I've heard some stuff can tear their fins.

Sharp edges are a big no. I'd stick to smooth rocks or silk plants. Plastic plants can be rough on their fins, so gotta be careful with those.

Yep, silk plants are the way to go. Also, avoid anything with small holes where they might get stuck. My guy got trapped in a decoration once, total nightmare.

Exactly. I'd also recommend checking the paint on decorations. Some cheap ones can leach toxins into the water.

I use driftwood in my tank, but gotta boil it first to kill any nasties. My betta loves hiding in the crevices, super chill vibe.

Driftwood's a great choice, just make sure it's not too rough. Sanding down any sharp spots can help. Also, avoid anything with metal parts, they can rust.

I've had bad luck with resin decorations. They looked cool but started flaking after a few months. Not worth the risk, imo.

Yeah, resin can be sketchy. I stick to natural stuff like rocks and wood. My betta's tank is like a lil jungle, he's loving it.

I've seen some people use terracotta pots. They're cheap and safe, just sand the edges smooth. My betta loves hiding in his.
