I've had my diamond goby for three years now, and he's been doing great. He spends all day sifting through the sand, but he also loves munching on flake and frozen foods.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on adding a mandarin goby to the tank. I know they can be picky eaters, and it's unlikely I'll find one that'll take flake or frozen food. But with a 170-gallon tank, I'm wondering if there's enough pods to go around for both of them.
The tank's been up and running for about six months now, and it's just the tank and sump with some live rock in the sump for now. I do plan on adding a 20-gallon refugium soon, though.
