care and feeding of the red sea cleaner wrasse

Post by flame9 »

Is this a full-grown Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse (Larabicus quadrilineatus)?

If he's not hammering away at your hammer coralfish yet, I'd say no Matt.

What's the size of yours? Mine's going back to the LFS as soon as I can catch it - annihilated a hammer coralfish in two days, yet never bothered any softies in six months and still takes any food offered.

My hammer coral actually died due to an accident, not the RSCW. A turbo snail knocked it off the rock, it landed upside down and didn't recover. The RSCW is about 1.5".

Mine's a decent size now, about 15-20cm, so I'd say your little guy's got some growing to do - I've had mine for at least 2.5 years now.

That's a pretty large size for a Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse, isn't it?

Just managed to get a more accurate measurement, not the easiest task I can tell you. I'd say my wrasse is actually around 12cm, so I slightly overestimated initially.

That's quite a size difference.
