eBay postage refund questions

Post by Rhythm »

Has anyone had issues with eBay sellers not honoring postage refunds for live fish? I ordered a pair of Discus, but the seller shipped them in a sketchy insulated box with no heat pack. They arrived dead, and now the seller's ghosting me on refunds. What's the best way to escalate this?

That's rough. eBay's buyer protection usually covers DOA livestock if you file a claim within 48 hours. Did you take photos of the unopened package and the fish? Those are key for evidence. Also, check if the seller's policy mentions live arrival guarantees.

Agreed, documentation is crucial. I've had success with eBay stepping in when sellers bail. Go to 'Purchase History', select 'Return Item', and upload the photos. If the seller still ignores you, eBay will force a refund after 3 business days. Avoid sellers with less than 98% feedback next time.

Man, that's a bummer. I got burned once too, but it was a cheap Betta. Now I only buy from breeders with tons of reviews. Maybe try messaging the seller one last time with 'eBay support' in the subject line? Sometimes that scares 'em straight.

Thanks, yeah, I took timestamped photos right after delivery. The seller's page claims '100% live arrival', but their communication is garbage. Filing the claim now.

Good call. With that policy and photos, you're golden. eBay's pretty strict about livestock claims. If they drag their feet, you can call their support line. I've heard they prioritize cases with clear evidence like yours.

Seconding the review tip. I cross-check sellers on AquaBid and forums. Less chance of sketchy shipping if they're established elsewhere.

For real, forums are clutch. Also, some sellers offer PayPal invoices off-platform for repeat buyers. Less fees for them, better deals for you. Just gotta vet 'em first.
