best food for soft corals
What's the best food for soft corals? I've been using Reef Roids but my Xenia and Zoanthids aren't responding much. Tank's a 40-gallon with T5 lighting, 78°F, salinity at 1.025. Weekly 10% water changes, running a protein skimmer. Any suggestions?

Reef Roids are solid, but you might wanna try adding some amino acids. I've had great results with Brightwell Aquatics Aminomega. My softies love it, especially the GSP. Also, check your flow—Xenia prefers moderate movement. What's your current flow rate?

Aminos are a game-changer. I'd also throw in some frozen mysis shrimp. My Zoas go nuts for it. Just thaw it in tank water first. Flow's key too, like akirien said. I run mine at 20x turnover.

I've had luck with a mix of Reef Roids and PhytoFeast. My soft corals expanded noticeably after switching. Tank's a 30-gallon, 1.026 salinity, 77°F. How often are you feeding? Overfeeding can mess with water quality.

Try dosing some oyster feast. My leather coral's grown an inch in two months since I started. Also, make sure your magnesium's around 1350 ppm—softies can be picky about that. What's your Mg level?

I'm new to this, but my LFS recommended Marine Snow. My Kenya tree seems happy with it. Tank's a 20-gallon, no skimmer, just weekly water changes. Should I add something else?

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna try the Aminomega and mysis combo. Flow's at 15x turnover, Mg's at 1300 ppm—I'll bump it up. Appreciate the help!

Solid plan. Keep us posted on how they respond. If the Xenia still seems sluggish, try reducing the light intensity a bit. Sometimes they're weird about too much PAR.

Yeah, Xenia can be drama queens. Mine folded up when I switched to LEDs. Took 'em a week to chill. Btw, what salt mix are you using? Some brands are sketchy with trace elements.

I swear by Red Sea Coral Pro. Consistent parameters every time. Also, +1 on the light adjustment—my Zoas closed up when I cranked the blues too high. Dialed it back and they perked right up.
