Is liquifry worth the investment?

I've got some pencil fish that are definitely spawning. I'm considering buying Liquifry online for them. Would that be worth it or could I get by with some homemade alternatives? Maybe something like egg yolk or crushed adult fish food? Crushed frozen food could work too, right?

I've got a stash of dried foods and haven't bothered with liquifry or egg yolks since my zebra danio breeding days as a teenager. Given the number of fish I breed, it's worth having a good stockpile.

I order decapsulated brine shrimp online, and I also use the fine powder from the bottom of dried krill bags, cricket powder from health food stores, and a product called golden pearls, which is excellent. My go-to is live, freshly hatched brine shrimp. You can find powdered krill in Canadian stores' marine section, meant for feeding corals. Mixing it with a little water and injecting it into the tank with a turkey baster works well for pencil-sized fry.

Liquifry and egg yolks can easily lead to water pollution issues.

You should be prepared for anything, having all the essentials on hand is key. Don't get caught off guard when unexpected little ones show up. I've lost count of how many times I've seen people stressing about not having the right food for their new arrivals.

Homemade liquid fry food is essentially egg yolk in water, but making your own is a simple process. Hard boil an egg, then push the yolk through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a small container of dechlorinated water. This method allows for a more controlled release of nutrients. Swirl the mixture and use an eye dropper to feed the fry several times a day, as needed.
