Raising krib juveniles

Post by barnicle »

I'm sharing some pretty rough photos, bear with me. Not sure if I got what I asked for - I requested a pair but these two look like females to me. Thoughts?

Kribensis are a type of African Dwarf Cichlid, so they'd fit in the African/Old World Cichlid section.

The bottom one is definitely a female. I'd also place my bet on the top one being a female. At this size, a male's body would typically be more streamlined and torpedo-shaped, with elongated fins. This fish, however, still has a boxy shape and rounded fins. While only time will tell for sure, I'm fairly confident that the top one is a female as well.

I think I should move it to the African/Old World Cichlid section then. I agree with you, creekdwlr, it was tough to see their colours in the shop, they only showed up once I got them home. I've already noticed some aggression, one's picking on the other, so I'll probably exchange one of them.

I'd definitely exchange one for a male. No guarantee they'll pair up, but from what I've seen, Kribs aren't too fussy about their partners.
