QT tank size
QT tank size
I've got 8 discus in my 125 gal and I'm planning to add a few more, probably 2-3 in the 4-5 inch range. I'm trying to figure out the best QT tank size for them. I was thinking maybe a 20 long, keep it simple with just a sponge filter.

I'm a fan of using either a 75 or a 40 breeder for QT tanks, just depends on the number of fish you're working with. For your situation, a 40 breeder would be ideal - it can handle up to six fish if needed, as long as you keep a close eye on water quality.

I'm with you on the 40g, that's my go-to choice too. For smaller fish, I opt for a 29g, works well for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, but a 40 breeder seems a bit excessive for just a few medium-sized discus. I appreciate your input, though. Do you typically use a sponge filter in your QT setup?
