Re: maintaining a healthy aquarium

I've tried a few different foods for my cichlids but I've found that New Era and New Life Spectrum are the best. They're both highly respected and recommended by lots of experienced keepers. They have a range of different types and sizes, so it's worth checking out what they offer to see what's best ...

Re: information on pseudotropheus saulosi

I'm after 15-20 Pseudotropheus Saulosi and having no luck finding them anywhere. I've tried Midland Malawi and Northants Malawis but no joy, can anyone point me in the right direction? Are there any breeders on here or know of any that might have some available? I'm willing to pay top dollar for ...

Re: information on pseudotropheus saulosi

I'll check out that website, appreciate the tip.
I'm in a bit of a bind, got a fully cycled tank sitting empty and I need to get some fish in ASAP, adding ammonia daily just to keep it running.
I'd be willing to travel to get them sooner, how far are you from Birmingham?

Re: My first bee brood to keep

When I was working with discus, daily water changes of 50% were pretty standard, and for good reason - those fish require near-perfect water to thrive. I'm not sure how delicate your cichlid fry are, but if you're running a bare bottom tank like lentoa, I'd definitely agree that daily syphoning to ...

Re: My first bee brood to keep

I'm thinking of feeding them live brine shrimp - is that the way to go?

have forum members had any experience

Just got the TMC Tropic Marin Pro Cichlid Mineflake 500g, supposed to be good for 1200l.
Malawi & Tanganjika flour, that's what it's called.

I bought it to increase the PH and water hardness in my tank.
Was it worth the money?

Re: food and sand issues

I've heard Mbuna can be pretty active when it comes to their substrate, so maybe there's some truth to your friend's claim about them being happier in sand - they do seem to enjoy digging and moving it around. I'm not an expert, but it's worth considering, I suppose.

As for food, I've had great ...

Re: is everything alright

When it comes to filtration, I've heard most people opt for two external filters, seems like a good rule of thumb to aim for at least 10 times the tank volume turnover per hour. I've got a similar setup on my own tank, running two Eheim filters that manage 2300 liters per hour, and that's for a ...
