Smart move. Just remember to rinse the brine shrimp well before feeding. They can carry bacteria if not cleaned properly.

Egg yolk can work in a pinch, but it's messy and can foul the water fast. Stick with brine shrimp or powdered foods for consistency.

Yeah, egg yolk is sketchy. Too much risk of messing up your water params. Not worth it.

If you're gonna hatch brine shrimp, get a small air pump and a 2-liter bottle. Super cheap setup, and it works great. Just keep the water salty enough, around 1.018 SG.

That's what I use. Works like a charm. Just make sure the water's warm, around 80°F, for best hatch rates.

I've seen some folks use a coffee filter to rinse the brine shrimp. Seems to work well for getting rid of the egg shells.

Coffee filter is a pro tip. Also, if you're feeding live food, keep an eye on uneaten shrimp. They can die and rot in the tank if not eaten fast enough.

How long do you guys keep the fry in the 20-gallon before moving them to a bigger tank?

Depends on growth, but usually around 2 months. By then, they should be big enough to handle a larger tank with less risk. Just watch your stocking density.

I move mine when they're about 1.5 inches. Less stress on them and easier to manage water quality in a bigger tank.
