Betta fish and feeding variety

I've been feeding my betta pellets for months, but I wanna mix it up. What other foods do y'all recommend? He's in a 5 gallon with a sponge filter, and I do weekly water changes. Just worried about overdoing it.

I feel you on that. My little guy loves frozen bloodworms. They're a great treat, and he goes crazy for them. I give 'em once or twice a week, and his colors have gotten brighter. Just make sure to thaw 'em first.

Start small—a basic oatmeal substrate works fine. Keep it at room temp, and feed yeast sparingly. It's low-maintenance once you get the hang of it.
