Gouramis and betta compatibility

Bettas and gouramis? Bad mix. Both gonna wanna be top dog. You're asking for trouble unless you've got a massive tank with tons of cover.

From a biological standpoint, it's not ideal. Both species have similar territorial behaviors and can stress each other out. Consider more peaceful tankmates like neon tetras.
